Hi from Bristol to Brisbane

Hi All,

I have just joined after reading through some of the posts over the past couple of weeks and found them very usefull so thanks to all of you.

Myself,Wendy and our three kids,Joe(18), George(16) and Beth (12) wil moving out to Queensland hopefully this August after receiving our visa's last week.

We are hoping to settle in the Caloundra area eventually.

I am an electrician (of sorts) and have just found out about further applications I need to make.................................just when I thought all the paper work was over.

Ah well I am sure it wil all be worth the hassel in the end.

Hi Pete, I am in the process at the moment and take my vetassess in April to prove my trade as a spark. Are you doing the same.? We hope to move to caloundra to either Kawana Forest or Pelican waters around about October if all goes to plan. Just come back from there after spending an amazing 4 weeks. Beats the hell out of Bolton!

Hi Chris,
We went to see both places last year,as you know they are both great,although Pelican Waters is a bit pricey for what you get.........
I have been going down the TRA route with my trade recognition,this was granted before we got our visas.
I have just found out that I still need to apply for an Australian Trade Certificate but this can be done through TRA before I leave the UK.
So if I have got my facts right (I will be contacting TRA in the next couple of days),I wont need to go to the trade test. If i have got it wrong I may see you there .
Either way good luck with the test and if all goes we could meet for a cold one out there.

Excellent! My TRA was returned when they pulled skil path D. I missed the dead line by about 3 days..Gutted... Thats why i now have to do the vet assess. Ive heard from other sparks it is cheaper and easier to get your licence whilst there Pete, through an employer. The same spark said anyone from the company can take it for you as well? Not sure how that works. Even with the vetassess i will still need to get a licence to! But will be able to work the day we land so to speak owing to the assessment..
