Hi Jason and family
the points tests can be a bit unreliable depending on where you have done it through
I don't know about wall and floor tilers, although I would imagine with all the new building going on you would be on the modl but I do know that hairdressers are on the modl and very much in demand.
Everything you need should be on the immi website http://www.immi.gov.au/ this is a good starting point.
The first thing you need to do is get your skills assessed, where depends on your skills.
If I was you I would start by doing a search about agents and giving a couple a ring to have a free chat with them.
Personally I would recommend using an agent, a couple of grand is well worth it to have someone working with you who knows the system and can get thier head around any changes quickly, there have been some major changes to the system over the last year.
But if you have time on your side and you are a methodical organised person (or your other half is)
I started off doing it by myself as it seemed very straight forward - until I passed the TRA as a hairdresser and not as a Childcare coordinator which is the category I applied for!
I think this was down to the wording of my Statutory declaration where I put my work skills in cronolgical order and went into great detail (because that is what you are supposed to do) about hairdressing as well as my childcare qualifications and skills.
So then because of time running out, you have to have your application in before you are 45 I engaged an agent.
enough of me, any more questions ask away somebody will know the answer

Sorry I cant do the fancy writing but welcome to PIO!
We have only been on here about a month but already had lots of help & advice from people! As everybody has already advised - try giving a couple of agents a ring.
Hi Jason just wanted to say welcome to PIO. U will find this site invaluable as i have and the people are so friendly! My oh is a plasterer and when we were checking things out there was lots of demand for tilers in Perth (dont know if thats where u guys are headed) but certainly in demand. I would agree with all the above replies - i am calling go matilda (who come highly reccommended) this wed for a chat and hope this will start the ball rolling for us. Keep us posted on how u get on!
