had a interview on phone from aus last night and seams that they use skype alot,
i downloaded it and its good(its prob been out for years LOL)
anyone on skype in aus want a chat so i can try it out cause im getting a call on sunday
send me your contact and lets have a chat...
we want to live in brisbane so if you are from there then lets have a chat

I use skype a lot to keep in contact with my family try getting your relatives to down load it and use a webcam its great

You can also now get SKYPE on mobiles.........with 3 mobile - check out their website.

once you get the hang of using it it is very useful. texts to australian mobiles from uk cost about 17p on my contract - if i send them by skype - they cost about 4.5p. and people can reply direct to your mobile. it is also cheaper for ringing landlines and mobiles around the world than my mobile contract.

when i lived in germany i used it all the time, and have a friend living in shanghai who i chat to - she showed me the new year celebrations on the web cam last week - very cool!

i am moving to brisbane in 2 weeks. more than happy to give it a test run if you want before sunday. like is said above - a web cam is great and if you can get the family on it, then you get decent video conferencing.

my only question for other people is how well the internet connections in brisbane hold up as i have heard it is behind the times in comparison to the UK. you need a decent connection speed as skype does need a good connection. friends in melbs have had no worries using skype back to the uk.

I loath Skype, not necessarily because of their service, but because when I had my credit card details stolen the thieves ran up several thousand pounds of Skype accounts.

It turned out that Skype is a commonly used tool of fraudsters, they steal credit card details, create Skype accounts with the details and then use the Skype accounts to run other frauds..... and Skype's response.... 'sorry we can do nothing about it'!!!!

My response....'sorry but I wont deal with a company that supports fraud'

i completely understand your frustration - but be careful what you say. the money should have come back to you from your credit card company once you identified to them your card had been stolen.

skype are not saying they support fraud - they cannot stop people using stolen credit card details to buy their service. unless we report them as stolen quickly enough - they cannot tell if the card is stolen or is being used legitimately.

your comments here could put people off using a money saving tool. skype did not steal your money - fraudsters did. i know you are not saying the tool is a bad one - but just feel you have worded it that skype were the ones that defrauded you out of thousands of pounds.

Thats not good - i really do hope that your credit card co managed to sort things out for you
I use my paypal account to put credit onto skype - i wonder if that could be targted too - guess with these scammers anything is possible.
