Newbies here!

Hi everyone,

I hope this message finds you all well. We have been lurking for a few weeks and thought it was about time to introduce ourselves! I'm Lisa and my partner Jeff and I are looking to make the big move to Oz with our three boys some time soon(ish...everything crossed). Jeff is a nurse so we would be hoping to get in on a skilled visa. The enormity of this undertaking is just beginning to dawn on us - I can't believe how much paperwork is involved! There are lots of balls up in the air at the moment but fingers crossed we will be ticking things off our very long list slowly and surely soon.

At the moment, we are not sure where in Oz we would like to go but are swaying towards the NSW area (though not Sydney itself), so any thoughts you could offer would be received with thanks! Also, if anyone knows what job opportunities are out there for ICU/Theatre nurses that would be really helpful too! There are a million more questions that I have but baby Max appears to have other ideas....lol!

Thanks for ploughing through this!

Welcome ...try Newcastle, Port Macquarie or Coffs Harbour. As a nurse Jeff will be able to get a job anywhere he wants as they are desperate for them. The John Hunter in Newcastle is an excellent hospital. Lifestyle and Beaches around those areas is excellent although Port and Coffs are known as Gods Waiitng Rooms with so many retirees!

Google the John Hunter and contact the HR people direct as they are always looking for nurses

Hi Lisa, Jeff and Family,

Welcome. this is a great site and v friendly.

Im a ICU nurse and we're going on a skilled visa to Sydney area too - but not sure where abouts. We're on a reccee in November and intend to have a look at hospitals and places to live then - will keep you informed!

Good luck with your application and any questions along the way Im sure you will find the answers among the good people here.

Hi Lisa & welcome to pomsinoz,
there are alot of folk on this site who will be able to advise & share their experiences with you.
NSW is rather a large state any idea of which area you may aim for - the central coast (where we are) is very beautiful.
all the best
