work history trouble

hi has anyone had trouble getting references from old employers,i goto go back 21 years, but some companies dont exist anymore.
what will immigration accept?

Hi Martin, for company's that are no longer trading you can do a stat dec, saying who they were, how long you was there, and full details of your duties. Also say on it that the company is no longer trading. This then has to be certified by a solicitor with your other documents.

Just include a statutory Declaration and that should be enough

Along with your stat dec u could try the revenue and ask for a list of your taxable employment history to back it up. Might be a longshot but they usually have a good memory when it comes to collecting money haha! Good Luck

If you still know anyone you used to work with they could back up your statutory declaration with a letter confirming dates etc

hi thanks for your kind replies,
i contacted the revenue office they said that they only keep records for 6 years!!!
(I bet, unless you owe them tak from say 10 years ago!!)
but i have good news from all but 1 employer so i can declare the time spen there and get a soliciter to counter sign (i think this is correct)
and i have a aussi interview tonight at 12am ish
OMG getting prepaired , good job im off for the week!!

april 2007 started contacting my employers in aus for a transfer
upto feb 2008 got fed up and contacted 11 other companies
feb 2 2008 got 2 offers so told my employers who suddenly were interested
upto present lots of dialogue with 3 companies
feb 14 12am aussi interview from aussi dept of company i work for here
WANT TO GO BY AUGUST 2008 LOL

We had the same problem regarding old companies. We were adviced to swear out a declaration.
