Hi Paul,

Just wanted to say Welcome to the site, are you planning on going it alone or using an agent?

We used an agent and she was brill.

Good luck with your process

April

Hi Paul
Welcome to PIO. If I was you Paul just give an agent a call, It wont cost and you can then decide wether to go it alone or not. It depends on your skills and how straight forward they are.Im a hairdresser and I dont think I would of got through the TRA without our agent. Good luck

Hey

Hi there welcome to PIO!!!

i am undecided on whether to use an agent or not too. Most of the folk on here have told me to look at go matilda and ian harrop.....i think. Going to give go matilda a call later on in the week for a bit of advice and to gage whether ill need a lot of help. What do u and your o/h do? where are u looking at moving to?

Hiya mackie08 and welcome to PIO. My hubbie and I have just started the long process of researching agents etc and deciding whether to go it alone etc.

You can contact an agent and they will go through your qualifications etc and advise you on which Visa to apply for. We did this and he pointed us in the direction of Skilled Migrant subclass 175 visa, then I looked on the "Department of Immigration and Citizenship" website and had a look at the Trades Recognition Australia form, this has to be done to make sure your skills experience etc is need in OZ. For this you have to have your apprentiship certificates etc and a detailed letter from your employer about the skills and jobs you do. This is $300 ish dollars to do and I think you will have to pass this first before going onto the visa. All very confusing. We are just in the process of getting my hubbies ceritifcates certified by a lawyer (to prove authenticity) before we send away the TRA form.

An agent will cost you about £3300 and only about £1500 will be the actual paperwork etc so the rest goes to them for doing the work. Our friend used an agent but we are going to try and do it ourselves but had great support from PIO so far.

Keep in touch

The 3 Bears - hopefully moving to Brisbane.
