My first thread
Hi all
This is my first tread ever, so i thought i would start nice and easy and say hello.
My wife and I have decided to take the plung and move to OZ but she is pregnant at the moment with are second baby so we will have to wait untill after the birth before we do anything.
Still a bit confused about how everthing come's together at the other end, so if you have any thoughts it would be much appreciated.
I am a Wood machinist / furniture maker and we are thinking about moving to Adelaide,
does any one know if this area is in need of this skill.
Well thats about it for now
Cheers
Wayne & Jeanette

Hi Wayne and jeanette and welcome to pomsinoz.
I live in Melbourne so can not really give you much advice but just wanted to say congratulations on the pregnancy. We moved here in December and i found out i was pregnant 2 days before getting on the plane!
Things have come together really quickley for us and we love it here, just a little sad being pregnant with my first baby so far away from the family but hay they will be here in August for the birth so that will be great!
Good luck with everything
Gail

Hiya ,and welcome to poms in oz.Have you looked at SEEK - Australia's no. 1 jobs, employment, career and recruitment site this will give you an idea as to what work is availble in all states. If you can get a skilled visa ,it may be worth applying now as theres lots of paperwork and waiting so the baby would probably be born before you had the visa anyway.Just an idea!! good luck with everything and if you get stuck with Adelaide your certainly in demand in Brisbane

Welcome and congratualtions - hope all goes well with the baby. You can use this time to start gathering all the info you need to pass TRA and for what you'll need for application so that once baby is born you can send it off. Actually there'd be nothing stopping you from you doing your TRA now

I agree with all of the above WELCOME I'm relatively new to PIO too but have found it really informative and supportive.
If you are really serious about the move then I would advise you to start the long task of TRA as it can take a long time to get stuff together depending on how many jobs etc you've had.
My OH and I are just about to see a lawyer next week to get his certificates certified then the TRA form is being sent. I still have a day or two when I think why am I putting myself thru this but it'll will all come good in the end I hope.
So good luck with the baby and keep in touch.
