Erm....Hello, what is next?

[2 + 5 Children in Essex]

Hi, my wife and I have been talking about moving from Uk to Oz for about 2 years now, Xmas last year (2007) we decided to go, we are just starting to go through the starting process of applying for visas etc.

We have 5 children 13, 10, 6, 4 and 3 months, The plan is to go to Melbourne(I have ex-work friends out there).

I am a Plumber/Air con Engineer, my wife doesn't work, when I say that i meen it in a getting paid to work sense, I know looking after 5 children is work and not a walk in the park before anybody complains!!!

So, anyhow, I am on here after advise, any advise on what I should do from here and who should I speak to?

We are planning on going out there on a recon in October. Many thanks in advance.

Hi guy's, and

First of all, you should consider if you can do this by yourself or do you get an agent? If you have a straight forward application then there's no reason why you can't, but it is time consuming so with you working and 5 kids, it's up to you.

Secondly, we have an Essex meet up on the 9th March at the Halfway House on the A127 starting at 2.00pm if you would like to join us, lots of people all at different stages of the application process. Kids are welcome in the pub, and food is available.

Hi, WELCOME TO POMS IN OZ

we passed TRA on Refrigeration/Air Conditioning Mechanic so thats the skilled visa that we are going on.

Oh also Plumber and Mechanical Services, you have to be careful when applying what you apply under i.e. work experience, qualifications etc.. You do get some free advise from agents so I would recommend that you use this and call them.

We are going to the meet that Mrs KP has referred to in March, so come along if you can

Hi,

There are several Migration Agents that offer free on line assessments, you just need to provide as much info as possible to them initially, we used ASA Migration who provided us with invaulable advice every step of the way and we've got our visa!! I don't think we'd have got on very well without their help particularly in the skills assessment stage, many people don't use an Agent but it depends how confident you are that you are completing the forms correctly and providing correct info. etc

Hi we are new to this site but love it and have been coming on every day for more info. My hubby is enrolled on air-con course in Melbourne July 08. We have 4 children (10,9,2 & 6 weeks) and have been trying to look at areas to live with good schools(not easy!) Any ideas would be greatly received, Geelong seems nice but have not visited Melbourne so don't know much!! We are currently in Hockley,Essex so wondered if we could also hook up and come along on 9th March can we just turn up? Cheers

Welcome to PIO Guys, I would recomend you get in touch with an agent. They will point you in the right direction and give you loads of info. Usually there is no charge for this. Go to a migrating Fair as there are loads at them to speak to..Good luck
