Tra?

Hi Guys - can I complete this on line? If not, where do you apply for it?? I am not sure whether it is worth both myself and my husband applying for a skilled visa - he is a chef and I am a lawyer - we were just going to do it for him but maybe we should try for both of us - is it worth it?

Hi Guys ... Not Sure If You Can Do It Online ??? We Did Ours Through Agent ... Which I Would Strongly Recommend !!!! This Is The Most Important Part ... If You Dont Get Past This Then Your Only Other Way Is Via Sponsorship . You Could Always Use The Agent Just For This Part And Then Do The Application Yourself .... Well Worth The Money I Would Say !!!
Cheers
Mrs Keily

Have a look at the Aussie immigration website Department of Immigration and Citizenship and follow the links through for both yours and your OH's skills/trade to get you started.
I am almost certain you can't do the skills assessment part online yet only the actual skilled visa (175).
I agree with Mrs Keily completely that you should speak to an agent first as regards who should be the main applicant and therefore get their skills assessed. Whomever the main applicant is, you or your husband will automatically be included in the visa along with any children not deemed independant.
Good agents to contact are Ian Harrop & Assoc - Registered Australian Migration Agents, UK - Ian Harrop and Associates who we used and were absolutely brilliant and Go Matilda who get good feedback on here too. Their MD Alan Collet comes on here now and then to help and advise. Both I believe will offer you a free consultation on the phone.

Good luck
Lyn

hi, I am in the process of sending my application form off for TRA. You cant do it on line, you have to send loads of info. I am doing it myself not with an agent. Its not been too hard just alot of typing, sore fingers not use to it I am a hairdresser, gots lots of info from the forum. Everyone is really helpful.

My big tip is put down all the little bits of info for your skills in very great detail. You can go to the web site workplace.gov.au. This will tell you all about it and has the application form to print.

Hope this helps a bit.

When describing your job make out you are explaining what you do to an alien. From scratch basically. This is the hardest part we couldnt of done this without an agent as everything has to be just so as they are so precise..Good luck

We are trying to do our TRA form ourselves as a friend of ours with the same job as my husband has just gone to Brisbane in November and has given us the info he used. The only problem I'm having is to which form to use. When you type in TRA application form into google it comes us a few choices. I have gone thru the Department of Immigration and Citizenship and I guess this is the official one. Can we post this to Australia and do we have to get copies of hubbies certificates certified or are colour ones ok? So may questions!!

Hi ya
Certified copies are what you need and yes it can be posted to Australia although if you can run to it I would send it by courier because its a lot of paperwork to get lost in the post.
Also, get all your paperwork in duplicate as if I remember rightly you will have to send an extra set of all your TRA paperwork with your visa application.
The DIAC website or workplace.gov.au are the official sites.
Very best of luck to you all
Lyn
