Thanks for everyone's replies - everyone is so enthuastic and helpful it makes it all so much easier - you definitely feel as if you are not alone in this!
Once a visa has come through, is there a deadline of when you have to leave, as we have the house to sell as well I am thinking what if we get a Visa and then cannot sell our house for ages - does the visa run out and then you have to start all over again??
And roughly how long do you wait for the visa?
My husband is a chef and has his own catering company so we are not sure what route to go down yet - any advice?

When you are granted a visa you have 12 months from the date of your medicals or police checks (whichever is earliest) to enter into Australia to validate your visas. We validated ours in October and are hoping to move permenantly before the end of the month.

Have you spoken to an agent about the best route? Does OH want to set up his own business or work for someone? Time - varies and some visa's may be quicker than others - the same visas seem to take different amounts of time (all of which seem an eternity when you're waiting).

I've just registered details with go matilda and they are ringing us tomorrow so we will know more then. I think OH will look for work rather than set up his own business until we get our feet under the table - I'll see what they advise.
