Hello all
we are new to the forum and just want to say hi. we are a family of 5 that have decided to go to melbourne. i have been actively reading some of the threads and gained so much from everyone it is nice to know that there is someone to advise us if needs be. we are aiming to go out on a skilled migrant visa (nurse) and also have family and friends in melbourne so it seems a logical place to start. still collecting the documents for the skills assessment (nursing and midwifery council) and hope to lodge that within the next 2-3wks. do have a slight problem though - i haven't told work of my plans and need an employer reference, how do i get this without them knowing of my intentions, i don't want to upset anyone and i love my job. i haven't worked for the same employer for the past 5 yrs so will need to get previous employer to reference too but that isnt a problem. does anyone have any suggestions? can a statement of declaration be written and then a reference be sought later on in the process? im lost.

Hi, and welcome to PIO.

I just took the bull by the horns and told my Senior Charge Nurse that I was looking into emigrating and asked if she would mind doing a reference for me.
In my case, I was lucky and had no problems although I think I started a mass exodus as two of the nurses I work with have since applied to emigrate.
