WelcomeIf you are new to Poms In Oz and migrating to Australia or currently living in Australia feel free to say hi to all the other either in or moving to Oz.
Hi
just wanted to say great site and its helped loads already so thanku,
although little confused how to take next step because so many ways to apply, do i use a agency while in uk or try to do it all by our self??
sure your advise us lol
thanks Lee and Angela
It really depends, do you have a straight forward application, if so, there's no reason why you couldn't try yourself, or if it may be not so straight forward then have some chats with some agents, the first 15 - 30 minutes is normaly free.
Good luck.

Hi Lee & Angela
Welcome to the site. It's hard to advise you whether to go it yourselves or use a migration agent -obviously depends on what visa you intend coming out on and whether you feel it's straightforward? As KP Nuts said, a lot of agents will give you some free advice initially so you can weight up the options and then decide which way you want to go.
Good luck with everything and where in Oz do you want to come to?

Hi there- just joined nd just logged on. Been back in Oz 3 months now and doing all I know to "fit"- bacome a volunteer, joined a walking group, applying now for jobs. Just takes time I guess. Any other suggestions??
I've been in Sydney 17 months and still having problems finding friends! I find the Aussies very friendly but it's still really hard and the only friends I've made are from UK! I don't work so don't come into contact with people that way so it's very difficult indeed.....

Hiya guys welcome to poms in oz,,we used an agent simply for peace of mind ,,just another set of eyes to check everything,we went with Visa Bureau and they were great all the way.Go matilda are another company who often get good feedback on here.If you feel ok about doing it all yourself and know whats needed, theres no reason why cant you go it alone and save yourself a few quid ,it really is personal choice,,good luck with everything its a stressful process!!!

Yes......I actually joined firstly a walkers group to see the area and make new friends- and have done and then becale a volunteer at an Info centre. Met even more people. My problem is I dont feel I really belong yet but I must be patient. The volunteer thing is good tho and gets you out!!
Hi, I am fairly new to this too. We are in the process of checking out a couple of agents, Ian Harrop & Associates and Go Matilda - both of which have had good reviews on this site. I have been told that the first part of applying, the TRA, is the hardest and needs to be perfect so we decided we didnt want to take the risk of mucking it up and are going with an agent. Also I think having an agent may take some of the stress out of not knowing what's happening next - maybe? We are going to make a decision next week with which one to go with.
There are quite a few peeps on here tho going it alone and there's loads of people with great advice too!
