General advice

Hello everyone I am new to this site and have many many questions. I am about to start the process of applying for the skilled visa as a spark. Since Sept of last year I believe that VETASSESS is now the way we have to go, Is sparking in Oz paying well at the moment, is it easy enough to get work ?, wife is a chef would she be able to get work? Is getting a Migration consultant advisable? We are currently watching a series of wanted down under and the wages for a spark that was on it didn't seem that great, but I don't know how old the prog is.
Oh yeah and if I have to how much is it to get a cat out there
Cheers
Mark

Hi Mark,

Welcome to the site. The Wanted Down Under Programme is fairly new, I think it was filmed this summer. Although the money for a Sparky was less than here the hours worked were less too. Not forgetting the quality of life... I suppose these are the things you have to weigh up when thinking about the Big Move.

We are heading to Brisbane in August, the wife and Kid's have just been granted their spouse visa.

Good Luck Mate.

Richard

You tend to find wages are less than the uk,but you get a much better quality of life.A sparky should find work relatively easy not sure what (if any) courses you have to do once here before you can work though? good luck with it all if your confident doing it yourself then go for it but if your a scardeycat or stresshead like me give an agent a call,Visa Bureau and Go Matilda are 2 of the popular compnays on here that always get good feedback,,

Hi Mark and welcome, just received my Vetassess competency profile assessment (1st stage) back today and its a pass, so feeling chuffed at the moment. I am self employed and did the profile with the wifes help.It was a bit of a worry hoping that we had given enough info, so things must have been alright I guess.
We sent application 8th December and got confirmation back 4th February. I'm going to send skills assessment application straight back and they are saying next tests are in London the 2nd week in April (to be confirmed).
Good luck with your application and if I can help in any way give us a shout,
Mark the other spark,
