Newby with loads of questions

Hi, im Andy my wife is Karen and our two children are Jody 15 and Bradley 13.
We are currently in the process of moving to Perth to be with the rest of my family.
Although i do need to do a bit more homework yet.
Thats where you guys come in. HOPEFULLY

I am Australian by birth, was born in Perth in 1970
Moved to the uk with my mother in 1982 after my father passed away.
I have been here ever since (except for the odd holiday back to Perth every couple of years or so) Using my british passport.
I DID still have an Australian passport until i stupidly let it expire in 2001
That shouldnt be too hard to replace (i'm hoping)
I have found out that once i get my passport back, my children can take Australian citizenship. (so thats ok)
Also my wife can get a permanent spouses visa (not cheap) but well worth it.
The thing i am having trouble finding out is,
As an australian citizen, will i be able to walk straight back into Aus or will i need some kind of visa myself ???????????
2nd question,,, I want to bring my car with me. I know it can work out expensive but they are quite expensive in oz and i'm rather atatched to it.
Is there any companys that you can send your car and furniture in the same container ?
If so, any idea how much more than just sending the furniture ?
Got a quote for just the car and it £1400 plus the aditional fees on arrival.

Thanks in advance for any replies on this matter.
Andy

Hi Andy & Welcome,

I dont see any problem to you just walking in to Aus with an Aus passport, my mom now has citizenship and has aus passports and they havent said that they need to carry or show their uk one with the ,now expired, visas in it.
Also you can just go through the line thats says 'Oz passport holders' instead of having to wait with all the visiters (we arrived at the same time as 2 JAL planes full of school kids once and was there for hrs!).
As for your car, we havent bought ours but the shipping companies that came to give us quotes commented on this. Some companies, apparently build over the car so they can put your furniture above it but this can collapse at sea and damage your car, dont know how true this is but might be worth checking out.

Good luck
Sam x

Hi and welcome,

My oh got a qoute from Allied Pickfords to bring both car and home stuff together, they didn't mention building over the car, i am not saying Sam is wrong, but you need to check this... qoute for car was £1,700 approx, but we were advised it would be cheaper to combine together...

Just e-mail different companys for qoutes...

(Sam hope you are getting on ok?)

I have started e-mailing a few companies and asked them all about combined shipping.
Not got any replies as yet but i will keep you up to date as and when i get some quotes back.
Quote for the Dog arrived today Cant believe it.......£2200 plus quarenteen fees in Perth. Think i will contact a few others before agreeing to that one lol.
Has anybody sent there pets without using an agent ?
Is it as complicated as they make it sound on my detailed quotation ?
Would be interesting lookiong into doing it without tbh.

Hi andrew and welcome to PIO.
we brought our GSD and it cost us £2 840 but worth every penny, Personally i would use an agent to do this as there is a load of paper work involved and wouldnt want you to miss something silly on the paper work then have ure dog not able to fly ,we used pet travel services only because they were close to us and they were brilliant contact ,,pets on the move, pet travel services.co.uk or airpets, they will arrange everything for you and save you the hassle and worry over and above the fee you are responsible for quarantine fees which were around $750 for the 30 days quarantine
wishing you all the best
billy
