Smile Hi, Big Decision??!!

Hi, We're just thinking about moving at this stage - anyone got any useful information, Married with 2 small children, own our own home, fed up in England...................

Husband has own scaffolding company but is not recognised in Australia, so have to get in another way, possibly learning a new trade (hubbie is 41!) - how easy is it to start a new trade at this age and live comfortably, we have a house to sell and my husbands business but I don't think after paying off the mortgage we'd have too much left, maybe could get a smaller home, or do we rent for a while, I could get a job maybe (Secretary/Admin), then there's schools and childcare etc.

I think the new life would be better than it is here, but worry about the future.

Does any one know if you can earn whilst training? Can jobs be organised beforehand.

How difficult is it really??

Children are 5 & 2

Hi there, we are pretty new to this as well but I know what a mind blowing headache it can all become. We have been looking at my OH re training as either electrician, bricklayer, anything really, but you do need apprenticeships, work exp , and paperwork to back it all up, we thought it was a great solution, but its a bit more in depth than we first thought.
Has OH any other trade ?

Hi have a chat to an agent who may be able to advise the best route as if your hubby re trains and has to have a few years expereicne he'll be over the aged 45 threshold. What about sponsorship?

Have you looked at the provisional business skills visas? These are often a pathway for those owning their own business.

Visa subclass 163 is a possible pathway:
State/Territory Sponsored Business Owner (Provisional) (Subclass 163)
Go Matilda - Your Gateway to Australia - Business Skilled Migration

Best regards.

Hello and welcome to pio. We are at same stage as you. We have spoken to a few agents they are really helpful. We were hoping for a skilled visa but looks like we will be looking into a sponsored visa as OH apprenticeship he did doesn't match his job he does now he is 41 too so doesn't give much time to train in something else. I would get in touch with a few agents they will give you advice you need.

Hi, no he doesn't have any other trades, he thought of bricklaying or roofing, but it's daunghting, I really don't know if we could do it... but if we did it would have to be now age wise, and while the kids are young. It's just an idea at present, thinking it would be a better lift, but I really don't know like you say, more in depth.

The best thing you can do is have a chat to an agent, they usually offer a free chat and you never know, there may be something that neither of you had thought of that could be a way in, we went to Perth last year, and have only just decided that we want to try and get out there, it is a headache a lot of the time but I know it will be worth it in the end, if anything ,it will give the children more than they will ever get here,if i can help in any way, give me a shout
Good luck
