Hi I am just at the start....
Hi there
I have just read someone asking for advice on how to migrate as he wasn't sure if he could due to trades. This prompted me to ask for advice too, so any received I will be really grateful. My hubby is in the window trade and I would of thought there wouldn't be much call for this sort of thing in Oz or NZ or is there? We have two kids and I am currently work in admin and studying for a degree.
I would like to know if there is anyone out there who has been in a simular situation, any tips or advice much appreciated.
Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Hi the copelands
Ring an agent up tell them your position and they will tell you the way you need to be going to gain your visa they should tell you this sort of information over the phone for free. Although it is hot in oz they still have windows and someone has to fit them.
the best of luck to you

Hi the Copelands
Welcome to Poms in Oz.
Is this link any good to you?
Flat Glass Tradesperson 4982-11 - Australian Skills Recognition Information
Flat glass tradesperson was on the MODL till the last re-shuffle of the MODL, but I've no idea whether it really describes what I would call a "Glazier."
I agree with Simon (the oldgit.) The houses do all have windows, as do the offices, shops, hospitals etc. There is a vast amount of building going on around Perth and Brisbane. Not sure about elsewhere. Wherever you need brickies to start with, you are bound to need all the other construction industry trades afterwards.
Please try this link to give you an idea:
The West Australian Careers Portal: Job Search
SEEK - Australia's no. 1 jobs, employment, career and recruitment site is said to be good too.
If "flat glass tradesperson" is the same thing as a glazier, then it is a 60 point occupation so skilled independent migration might be possible.
If not, you may be able to get an employer to sponsor your OH for a 457 (temporary) visa to start with which cul be upgraded to a PR visa after two years.
I hope this helps a little in getting you started.
Best wishes
Gill

Hi
Thanks for getting back to me guys. My hubby in the Uk is a UPVC windows installer, but I was thinking along the lines of him as a Glazier over there, I think the same but they use aliminum instead. Thanks for suggesting flat glass, I looked into it and it's mirrors and stuff. Does anybody know where I can find an agent to look into this further?
