help needed.... urgent!!

hi guys, we thought we had our 457 visas, but had email today from immi asking us to provide evidence that i have legal custody of my 14 year old son! i was not married to his dad and i left when my son was 3 monthes old, we have never seen him since, he does not pay any money, i dont even known where he is or even if he is still alive, my husband has brought him up since the age of 6. how do i go about doing this!!! what is the best and quickest way to do it??? please help!!!!!!

Hi, what evidence are they asking for, we are in the throws of going through the same route and I have two children to my first husband and we will be taking them with us, so I will need to know the same I think.

Stat dec I would think, stating what you have just written above. Your lawyer will be able to advise you.

I had the very same issue, my son is 16 and never had any contact etc, our agent said that all i had to do is state all of that in a letter.
I wrote: I (your name) of the above address and mother of (son's name) state that (full name of child) born on **/**/** has has no contact with his biological father since his birth due to the fact his biological father did not wish to have any contact or resposibility for the child, this being reason for his name not being on the birth certificate. He has never tried to gain access to (name of child) and has also never contributed to his upbringing in the form of any money or otherwise. I would not know of his whereabouts at this time. (name of child) has never expressed an interest in contacting his biological father and is very happy to have (name of step father) my husband as his step father, whom he called Dad.

Then just sign and date it! I didn't have to get this certified by a solicitor or anything.

We had exactly the same situation as you, at the last minute immigration wanted to see statement of arrangements that is signed by both when you divorce, but you will only have one signed by yourself the both signed one will be with the courts. I'm afraid a stat dec was not enough, i also had to get data page of ex passport photocopied and faxed to them. Hasve as much info as you can gather so you are ready.

i,,m in same situation father not on birth certificate never been in touch don,t know where he is and i,m doin a stat dec statin i have full parental responsibiti and my agent has ok this ,if u want to see whats in the stat dec i could forward it to if it helps
