Hi everyone. two weeks ago Dave and I decided to take the plunge and emigrate to Oz! My sister lived and worked as a doctor in Tasmania and Melbourne about 5 yrs ago and during our visit we fell in love with the place. At the moment we're spending every night trawling the internet for ideas and advice. Found this great website and have been reading the threads ever since. Thanks!

We are going to a seminar in Bristol in Feb to get some more ideas ( only because it was close and only £25) As my OH is 45 I have to be the primary applicant on the visa. I am a nursery/infant teacher and understand there shouldn't be a problem. Having discussed the idea with my sister she suggested trying to find a job first and then the visa as this is what she did. Any advice on this?

Not sure what to advise, i suppose you could be safer doing both, start the ball rolling with getting you skills assessed and in the men time keep on looking for a job sponsor???

Thanks. I have done more research and found out that Victoria sponsor pre school and primary teachers. Emailed their migration office in Oz and their UK office. Also emailed other state education boards to enquire about sponsorship. Will also contact schools if only to register my interest .
Also gathering documentation for my teacher skills assessment with TeachingAustralia.

So fingers crossed!
