help with brisbane

anyone please help.we are in a right pickle. up to now we were heading to townsville, but someone has thrown a spanner in the works. now brisbane has poped up. can anyone tell the nice areas to live and work in brisbane. leo is a bricklayer and im a dental nurse.

Hi there,
noticed your thread, we are off to Brisbane just as soon as the visas come through.
We have friends out there already and they have said that if it's Sunshine Coast you want then Caloundra, Mooloolaba and Maroochydor are all really nice.
If you want to be closer to the city then they have lived in Sandgate and currently live in Margate...yes Margate which is near Redcliffe and they commute into the city and say it's lovely there too.
If you would like to be near to the city but Island life then Bribie Island is the place to be and i've been advised that it's approx 50 mins into the city from there, don't quote me on that though, i suppose it depends who's the driver on that one hey.
Finally places i've been advised not to settle in are : Deception Bay, Morrayfield and Caboolture not sure why but told they are not very nice areas.

Wherever you end up there are always good & parts to most suburbs....some suburbs are traditionally housing commission and may nto look the best but you could have the best neighbourhood.

If coming to Brisbane, any of the Southside suburbs are the best. There are some nice northern suburbs but generally its best to stick to the southern side. Also, its closer to the beach if you want to head down to the Gold Coast. The further north you go from Brisbane, the more you encounter Hicksville!

Hi< we have lived in Brisbane, and for us the best area is north west suburbs. Arana Hills, Ferny Grove etc. Rentals and houses are quite cheap compared to closer to the city, even through you are only 30 mins from the city by train.
But it depends on your needs and wishes. People who live on the north side would never move to the south side and vise-versa.
Its a great place Brisbane, enjoy the shopping, South banK Parklands, and the river side markets. There is always something going on.
We are heading back in June.

Hiya ,there lovely suburbs all over Brisbane,some north,some south,some west etc (think you get my drift,lol),it really does boil down to personal choice and to where you feel best suits you,thats why us folk are so spread across the Brisbane area .There are lots of new land estates being built all over Brisssy with plot sizes varying from 600sq mtr upto 4000+sq mtr,what are you as a family looking for? how far do you want to travel to work?or to schools?,Have you looked at SEEK - Australia's no. 1 jobs, employment, career and recruitment site to see where the jobs seem to be,i know bricky wise the Gold coast is desperate for good tradesmen,not too sure on the dentist front.You can also look at Real Estate, Property, Land and Homes for Sale, lease and rent - realestate.com.au and search by suburb to check out property rentals and prices,and if that dosnt give you enough to do ,have a read of the Where2Live guide for Greater Brisbane,this lists the majority of suburbs right down to us here at Beaudesertshire,it has some interesting facts and statistics,good luck in your search it will be a tough choice,,
