Well yesterday I started the ball rolling .

Told my Boss I was emigrating to Australia , he went a bit red in the face and said nothing straight away and then seemed pleased for me. But I think he was mulling over who or where he could find a replacement.
I was dreading it and my heart was pounding and my hands were sweating but once I told him I felt on a high.

So fingers crossed it all goes well

Its an internal transfer so I am being sponcered , I have a special skill and knowledge that no Aussy has outside the company and only a few of us within. So in order to be maintain the business they want me to train and work in Melbourne.

I am what they call a legacy Technician (Basically I know how to service and repair very old specific electro/hydraulic systems and upgrade them) many dating from the late 70's.
One was in a large Japanese car factory in Melbourne and they had to wait while I (had a large cup of tea) removed and repaired the problem.
Anyway in Australia there are lots of companies who still use our company products and require my knowledge to keep these systems running or persuade them to invest in upgrading. But mainly I will be servicing and repairing although they have mentioned they would like me to become a sales Engineer but we will see.

Just recieved some great news I have my sponcership but I was hoping the company although they are doing the Visa etc would pay for my relocation fee's ..Still I was pushing it a bit . I thought they might have paid me a some assistance.

I worked out its going to set me back about £8k depending if we take our cars. So with the assistance with the Visa I can knock £2500 off that....but still its all happening.

They want me to start in 2009 when one of there Technicians retires, so that gives me reasonable time to start selling unwanted stuff off and getting the overtime in to pay all these fee's.

So I will pop back now and again just to let you know what stage I am at .
