Glad you could join us! Can you tell me why you have chosen Gosford - what does it have to offer. I am a social worker and may have to look in this area for work.

Hi all, just read this thread and noticed Natalie and Lees mention of visiting avoca and schools in the area. Have you been guys. What did you think? did you go to avoca school? Would love to know as that is the area we're hoping to live too. My kids are 4 and 7 (2 boys). Luv Wendy

Hi Wendy - I heard back from Natalie that her hubbies trip had been really positive. You could PM her if she does not reply here.
I have emailed Avoca Beach Junior school and they were really helpful. They have a strict policy around living within their catchment area and you must also provide proof of your childs vacinations at some point. So I need to dig out my 'red books' for my two.
Are you close to moving yet? We are waiting to sell our house and then we can go - can't wait!
Looks like there could be a few Poms heading for Avoca!

Hi Gaynor, thanks for replying. I'm just about to send off my visa. It's took me since february to get my nursing registration complete both within new south wales and australia. It's great news to hear that others are moving to this area. We're planning on going approximately spring 09. We're about to put our house on the markedt in the next few weeks, just finishing off our renovations. It's exciting to know others are going to avoca beach school. Hi Wendy, sorry I haven't replied for ages but i don't spend as much time on here as i did. Unfortunately we have had to postpone our move due to my brother being ill. Hopefully be all go again in a couple of years. however, Lee loved The Central Coast and particularly Avoca and Terrigal. He didn't get into Avoca School but did go into others and they're all pretty much standard with the same entrance requirements in terms of catchment area. The whole of the Central Coast was very family friendly with loads to do. Property was much more affordable and mostly within 10-20 min walk of a beach ! Easy for getting into Sydney if you need to and massive shopping centre - Erina. He loved it and came back with no doubts at all that it was the area for us.

This was my first ever post on this site and since then I have got loads of great advice on a wide range of different subjects. The only warning I would give is that it can become very addictive!

We are heading to the Central Coast which is about an hours drive from Sydney. Hope to be there before Christmas - subject to house sale!

I am sure you will get lots of help and advice - just don't be afraid to post or ask questions.
