You, I feel is the type of person who do give us the name "winging poms" your an insult to all nationalitys and have no etiquite especially to the people that live in the country you have adopted. You can compare all you like put comments such as the Aussies dont have personalities is as rude as it gets. If this is your attitude in your daily life then no wonder you dont find a good community feel and I bet most of your friends are English. Come on mate give it a go. Take each person as they come and not by what nationality they are. Maybe its you who has no personality, ever thought of that????? Grow up

Sorry Harold

I have just read your post (Some reason I don't get an email to tell me of a reply). It might be a bit late for a reply but what the hell.

You may have a point. Sometimes in life when there is a negative you see other negatives that are not really there. My Aussies don't have personalities remark was generaling. But if I remember rightly I think I was just being on a little diffensive as at that time there were alot knocking the UK. I was just thinking today I have more posatives about Australia than negatives by a long way in fact. But as for not giving it enough time is rubbish. I have been in the plumbing industry for over 20 years I knew straight away it was not for me. I wanted to go home after I think 3 months. But I have stayed hear looking to buy a small business. I have come to the conclusion that I know very little apart from plumbing Heating and gas so that is what I should stick to.

There really is more to it than that but it's more personal than what is wrong with Australia. I had to adapt to Australia, not Aus had to change for me. I could not so I have to go home. But I am of the believe if you don't like it go home, don't just moan about it do sonthing about it.

If I get home and I think I have made a massive mistake (Which of course is a concern of mine) I'll come bak with a Bangladeshi Chef and we'll go into partnership in opening a decent Indian.

Been hear a year now going home in about 3 weeks.

Thanks for the post Harold
Now did you want to buy anything? I still have a car going cheap.

Take care John

Hello All

Sorry Cal for bringing up an old post but I just found it. I don't get reminders so I'll have to check all old posts.

But sorry to all for not getting back, I still got a washing machine and a car you know.

Also thanks for the support as well. But Harold did have a few points like I said on the post above I've got very little argument. But I'm not the first or the last to have a moan.

Thanks again all. Also got a couple of tents and camping gear?

John

YAY!!!!

Good luck, John! Hope it all works out well for you, moving back. You must come back on here and let us know how it all goes for you... just don't post pictures up of decent Indian curries and make me envious, eh?

With all due respects to Harold - even 5 years is a honeymoon in my book! However I think you can decide within the first 12 months - heck, the first 12 days even - whether or not it is going to be the place for you. No matter how you spin it, if you dont belong, you dont belong and no amount of positive self talk is going to make it so (been there, wearing the t shirt!). And, no, according to my friends, there is nothing wrong with my personality (well, not much, anyway)

John, I wish you all the best in your return home and you know I am full of envy I hope it all works out brilliantly! At least it seems to be a buyers market for real estate!
