We lived in Oz for 20 years and spent our time in WA. We have friends in Perth that came from Tasmania and who intend to retire there, they still have a lot of family there, visit regularly and never want to leave.

It is apparently a beautiful place and we would like to visit one day. The economy is not that of the mainland though and employment can be a problem, hence our friends living in Perth. When I last looked real-estate is much cheaper on the island.

Hope that helps a little.

Cheers

Dave

Can't comment about Taz but WA is a lovely place.

Our kid lived in Perth for some 20 years or so.............. he moved across to Cairns about 5 years ago as that was closer to the mine-site he worked on up in NT. He went down to Tassie for a 2 week holiday recently.............. has gone back to Cairns and sold his two houses over there and is moving down to Tassie permanently as he reckons it reminds him so much of England. He reckons it is a magic place................ but will he still be saying that come winter?

Hi, we moved to Tasmania in October and love it! We have join family here who moved here after living in Perth and Cairns. Lots of people are moving here from other parts of oz because its just too hot for them! The weather today is 30+ which is unusual but since arriving it's ben mostly 23/25 degrees. Slower pace of life and very beautiful. Tas has seasons unlike some states so yes it does get colder but nothing like the UK. Family say although hotter places appeal at first, the novelty wears off after a while and it's good to have seasons that are colder. Spoken to lots of people who moved here from Victoria for the same reasons.
