HI ADACAKES .. THE FIRST THING TO DO IS ESTABLISH THAT YOU O/H OR YOUR SKILLS ARE ON THE SKILLS IN DEMAND LIST [YOU CAN GOOGLE THIS ] . IF THEY ARE THEN YOU HAVE TO HAVE SKILLS ASSESSED BY RELATIVE ASSESING AUTH BE IT VETASSES OR TRA . WE WENT THROUGH AN AGENT .... BUT IF YOU HAVE AGE ON YOUR SIDE AND CAN GET ENOUGH POINTS [120] THEN YOU COULD SAVE YOURSELF A FORTUNE BY DOING IT YOURSELF .... LOTS OF PEEPS ON THIS SITE HAVE AND MANAGED SUCCESSFULLY !!! ITS A DRAWN OUT PROCESS AND VERY DAUNTING AT THE BEGINNING BUT YOU WILL GET LOTS OF SUPPORT AND INFO FROM PIO
GOOD LUCK
MRS KEILY

Hi Adacakes, and to PIO, think Mrs Keily covered it all there, but if you have any more questions, just ask away.

Good luck

Thanks Guys

Thanks for such a warm welcome,
we have decided that we are going to try and do the paperwork ourselves and try and save a few quid, but if it all goes pear shaped we will contact an agency.
Can anyone recommend an agency? When we were thinking about moving a few years ago there was a company who take a percentage of your earnings to cover the cost of moving does that sound familiar to anyone or do you have to pay as you go?
Do you tend to buy a place straight away or rent and then buy?
How much does it cost to bring a labrador over?

I know i am bombarding you but if you can help that would be great

Thanks

adacakes

Can't help with regards agents as we came out on a employers sponsored 457 visa sorted by them but can give you some idea's about shipping out a dog. We brought our 4 yr old boxer with us and by the time we had paid vet fees for blood tests, employed a specialist shipping company and paid for the months quarantine at this end I reckon we didn't get much change out of £3000. We used a company called Airpets who have a good reputation and we were happy with their service. It was worth every penny bringing him as he's a huge part of the family and without him here it wouldn't be the same and I don't think we would have settled so quickly. Hope that helps a bit.

We used an agency called Access Migration and we were very happy with them. There are many others that people will recommend on here. Most agencies will discuss your options with you for 20 minutes FOC.

We brought our Rottie over with us, we also used Airpets who were fantastic, the cost was about 3000 pounds. The cost of 30 days quarantine is paid for over here.

Good luck

Hi and welcome,

Alot of agents give a free consultation - why not ring a few.
