Hi,

To all in oz and everyone trying to get there.

Myself, hubby (brickie) plus 3 boys 1 aged 6 and twins aged 3 have just rec'd the golden e-mail

and are now in the process of starting the 2nd ball rolling i.e. reckie, house sale etc.

We have friends over in Perth (Craigie) who have been there for 2 years and gave us the push to apply, now we have rec'd the long awaited YES reality has dawned.

JOB, SCHOOLS, HOUSING etc Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Can anyone offer any sound advise on the current situation for Brickie job's NOR and housing prices, we will be bringing approx £150,000 so hoping with a little mortgage to get a decent place.

Not so bothered about being right on the coast as we do not mind being inland approx 10-15 min drive as long as theres a POOL Yehhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

If anybody needs any advise on visa app give me a shout and I will try and help, hubby applied via TRA.

Hi and welcome to PIO

If you look on Australia migration - suburb profiles, accommodation, schools, real estate, jobs in Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Darwin and Hobart they have a list of suburbs, a map so you know where they are, links to schools in the area and also average house prices.

Welcome to Poms in Oz.

In addition to what Ali has said, I would also recommend as follows:

1. Speak with billy braveheart because he is a brickie in Perth. They live in Forrestfield, which is NOR but not by much (it is quite closeto the hills and not that far from the international airport.)

2. Speak with Bobcat via a PM or e-mail on here. He is a real Estate agent and he lives well North of the River in Perth. He can tell you about property rentals and sale prices in the area which interests you and might be able to help get a rental lined up for you etc.

3. Speak with BullcreekBob too, again via a PM or e-mail on here, because he is a mortgage broker and you will need a mortgage, I reckon.

If you want to be within 10 mins drive of a beach anywhere around Perth, you will be looking at seriously high house prices, I reckon. Think 30-50 minutes' drive and the prices are likely to be more affordable, I suspect.

I am in a very similar position to you. My husband is a welder. We have three kids 6, 3 and 2 . We have decided on Perth but have no idea where abouts. We are taking £140,000 with us. I was hoping to live by the sea but I'm not sure we can afford it.
We are planning a recce in August, hoping visa will be given around June/July ish, so we need to decide what area we want to settle in before then, so we can look at schools etc ! ! seriously scary stuff ! !
I am hoping we can stay in touch we may be able to swap info.

If you look at the aussie move site map of suburbs - to give you an idea of travelling time - I live in Leeming (SOR), it's about 15 min drive to the city and 20 min to Freo and the beach
