Do we take the car?

Hi all PIO viewers

Has anyone who has made the journey to Oz taken their own car with them?

What was the deal when it got there? Were there many checks that needed doing?

As we get closer, we have soooo many questions. I know this is the right place to get them all answered!

Hi Guys
We looked at taking ours well to be honest i bought a new car 3 years ago to take but when i looked into it it just wasnt worth it it was around £1500 to export from here then you get chaged inport that end around the same £1500 then they conpaire it against something there end and charge you i think it was 10/15% tax + they also charge you to put there own sort of mot on it and a charge to register it and a charge for spraying it to decontaminate it so hopefuly that will give you some food or thought cheers Ron

Hiya we too brieflt looked into the bringing the car and as Ron says it worked out too expensive.Its the taxes this end with the checks and convertions that boot the price up,,hope this helps a little

Generally, it seems that people say it's too much bother (unless of course it's the love of your life).

We also looked into bringing our car and did seriously consider it for a long time. In the end we decided not to bring it however, it wasnt the cost of shipping or the cleaning etc of the car that put us off, it was the taxes over here!!
