medical stress

hiya to all !! We`re new to site as just starting the process. We were hoping that some of you could give us some advice on the medicals, as about fifteen months ago my husband had ableed in the brain which left him with a weekness to his right hand side and a slight speech impediment. This was all caused by sleep apnia which had made his blood preassure go sky high as was undetected. But fingers crossed, all well now do you think this would effect the results!
Oh and love the site!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi lekydave

difficult to say, if everything is under control then it will probably be ok but they do usually ask for specialist reports if people have any sort of medical history

they are looking for anything that could cost a lot of money to treat now or in the future, basically they do not want to allow entry to people who could be a drain on resources

why not try to speak to the panel Doc for your area? or your own GP

good luck

Hi Lekydave,

When do you go for your medicals? Well if this helps any i have Crohn's Disease and have had it since 1991, i had 2 major operations when i was 17 which left me with an Illeostomy which is a bag for my bowels so had bottom sewn up. I was under a consultant up until approx 1998 of which i was discharged as i was stable, i have been fine since my op but will always have the disease but not physically so when we had our medicals the panel doctor wanted all the reports regarding my Crohn's Disease so that he could confirm that i have had no more problems since the date i said etc, i have to have medical stuff every month of which would be a cost of roughly £70 per month if i had to pay for it myself, so have had to sign a confirmation stating i will be paying for my own medical stuff if we get the visa and panel doctor said he thinks i will be fine getting the visa so all i can say is make sure you get medical reports from your doctor to take with you to your panel doctor as it will add time on if you dont and he requests them, i will keep all crossed for you both. Let us know how you get on and if you want to know anything else then dont hesitate to ask as i am more than willing to help if i can

Take letters from your hubbys consultant sayint what the problem was, how it was treated and also the prognosis, these will be sent off with your medical. It may be possible you get asked to undergo more investigations (or you may not)

Hi Dave

As long as the weakness does not affect your ability to work ad to be entirely self-suppoting fianaiclly plus physically independent, and your BP is now stable, I don'tt think you'll have a problem. My mother is far more disabled than you and is largely wheelchair bound now, after breaking her back some years ago. Sh got through her meds with no trouble, aged 85, ad the crieria are identical for both you and Mum.

Cheers

Gill
