Oh sorry, I forgot to ask, does anyone know if theres lots to do in Adelaide/Brisbane for family days out etc? We like to get out and about at weekends with our son Rio (18 months) and ideally want to be near to the beach. We love amusement parks, picnic spots and general family outdoors stuff. We have two crazy spaniels as well and like to take them out with us where possible.

Would be grateful for your thoughts/experiences on this subject for both areas.

thanks again

Julie, Nigel & Rio xx

Again can't speak for Brisbane but in Adelaide there is loads to do. Check out this site.

Adelaide Bound - making migrating to Adelaide and South Australia easier, Migrate to Adelaide.

It will tell you all you need to know about Adelaide. Hopefully someone from the Brissie side will know of a similar site for there and you can compare the two. Also the Ex pats are always arranging activities through the PIA forum.

Yep, There is one for Brisbane too

Brisbane Queensland Australia - suburbs - maps - accommodation - events - street and business directory - restaurants - ourbrisbane.com

Think you will find both have lots to offer in the way of things to do in both areas. There is a nice beach at Glenelg with and indoor play centre, water slides and arcades etc... Also swim with the Dolphins with Temptation Sailing at Glenelg. Lots of outdoor swimming pools and lovely parks.

I'm new to the site so I hope I am posting this in the right place!

My husband, me and our 18 month old son have just started the process of getting to Oz (hubby is just having his skills assessed) and we were hoping to pick anyones brains out there on a whole load of subjects!! We live in Portsmouth and I'm self employed as a childminder.

The main one though for us is where to settle. My other half is an IT Network Security Manager and we are assured by our migration agent that we should have no problems getting in to either Queensland or South Australia as his occupation is on the "on demand" list in both states.

Our initial gut feeling was that Brisbane/Gold Coast area would be the place for us but we are not sure if its going to be too hot/humid for us. We also heard that mosquito's can be a real problem ( I'm allergic to mosquito bites!) for most of the year, can anyone describe the climate for us there and tell us how it really is with mosquitos?!! We are also keen to settle somewhere where our son will have a great outdoor life and lots of friends.

We are also considering Adelaide and having a young family we are keen to settle somewhere where there is a great outdoor life and is family orientated but again we are not sure what the climate is like there and whether there is plenty of family activities for us.

Can anyone give us any advice/info on anything good or bad about both places? Also any info on cost of living, job prospects for Nigel etc etc etc!! Anything at all would be helpful.

Thanks

Julie, Nigel & Rio x

Hello All

We have been in Brisbane for the last 7 months and it is not a bad place but I went to Adelaide for 4 days the other week and I think it knocked spots off of Brissie.
fantastic temp and more beutiful.

Good luck
