Where to live in Melbourne

Hi everyone would love some advice on where to live in Melbourne/Victoria. We are hoping to migrate to this part of Australia on would appriciate any advice on good and not so good if any places to live. We have 4 young children and have spent alot of time on the internet looking at lots of lovely houses for sale but hard to know about the area. It,s so hard to know where to start any advice or opions would be great. thankyou.
