new to pomsinoz,yes/no to oz

hi,my name is dolph, ive been asked by my employer to spend 2 yrs in darwin and they will do all visas etc...they have said that if i do 2 yrs they will pay for and process my full time residency after the 2 yrs and then relocate me to another dealer where i want to go in oz..
ive never really thought of going to oz before.does anybody think this is a good deal,is the chance of moveing anywhere in oz worth spending 2 yrs in darwin. this way the company does everything, all we have to do is x-rays meds etc...so it could be a great stepping stone to get to oz.
any feedback or your thoughts would be great.
im new to this forum so not sure how it all works yet.

Its a toughie but YESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!

What a perfect opportunity for you, you get to try it out for a couple of years, I guess if you don't like it then you come home - if you do, you stay. How brilliant. My view is things happen for a reason - these sorts of offers don't come up very often. Take the chance while you can.

Never been to Darwin as it does seem pretty remote but I am sure someone can come along with an answer.

Congrats!

Hi Dolph
Go on give it a go. You can't really lose can you as you can always come back if its not what you want and at least if you give it a go then you can have no regrets about not having tried! I don't know much about Darwin as we are heading for Perth but I am sure others on here will giove you an insight.

Crikey, just do it! What an opportunity. 2 years is nothing and would enable to to expereince the culture, travel down under and really get to know if the Oz lifestyle (if not Darwin itself) is for you. If not, can I swap with you?

Darwin is a great place. It's a pretty small city, I spent 10 days there last year and even after a few days people were recognising me about town and passing the time of day with me. It's actually my second favourite city in Oz after Melbourne which surprises a lot of people.

Some of my friends who have been there before me told me that I would want to leave as soon as I got there, that really wasn't the case at all.

There is also loads to see and do up there, Kakadu national park is amazing, there are also the Tiwi Islands, Arnheim land etc etc.

You do need to be aware of the climate up there, it is extremely hot, most of the year the temperature is in the mid 30s and there is the issue of humidity as well to deal with. Darwin only experiences two seasons, the wet (November - March) and dry (April - October). You also can't swim in the sea up there due to crocs (not sure if this is all year round, but was when I was there during April last year).

Hope that helps!
