A BIG Hello to everyone!!!!!

Well where do I start, firstly it was my husband that introduced me to this site and after spending many hours looking through all your messages I think it could be my new best friend!

I’m a bit of a slow starter and even though I have been joined a while this is the first message I have posted. I’m also unsure about all the little notes at the bottom of your postings such as TRA, so if anyone could point me in the right direction with that, it would be big help!

Well I have never been to Australia, although it’s a place I’ve always dreamed of visiting (never mind living there!!). My husband was offered a job with an Australian firm based in Sydney in August this year, he flew to Australia end of August and spent two weeks with the firm and said it’s fantastic, so 3 days before he was due to fly home the company introduced him to a immigration agent. My husband has been given a formal job offer by the company and as far as immigration go we have filled in our visa 457 forms, sent off for our police checks, going for our medicals on Monday (5th November) and we sold our house today…………….YIPPEEEEE!!!!

As we are going on a temporary business visa the immigration have also wanted a lot of information from the company who I believe are providing it very quick and efficiently. Our immigration agent has been in constant contact with us and told has told us that we have a good case officer who is keen to complete our case. They have basically told us that as long as our medicals and police checks are received and approved and once the company have sent there letter of support the officer will approve the company application!!!!

So just a bit of advice now……………has anyone been through this process, if so what kind of time scale do you think we are looking at now before we will be living the dream at the other side of the world?

We did ask our agent and she said because everything is moving so quickly there is a possibility we could have our Visa’s for Christmas. Truthfully, do you think we are setting our hopes a bit high if we plan to fly New Years Day????

Well I have lots and lots of questions to ask, but didn’t want to bore you out in my first posting.

Hi Rebecca,

A big welcome to PIO and congratulations on your first post. I haven't any experience of the visa you're applying for but what a wonderful way to start 2008 if you could fly out on new years day! We've been in WA since January and feel very settled and content here.

Good luck with everything and lets hope you're soon posting that your visa has been granted

Hi rebecca Welcome to PIO. I dont know about your visa but based on the speed of things so far Im sure you could fly at NEw Year!. It can take up to 40 days to receive your police checks so that may hold things up a bit. the best of luck. xx

Paul and I have begun our application process, but are having a few hiccups along the way. Paul is a Joiner, we just missed out on getting accessed by the TRA, and are now waiting for our agent to send our application onto VETASSESS. Fingers crossed things will start to come together soon.
