WelcomeIf you are new to Poms In Oz and migrating to Australia or currently living in Australia feel free to say hi to all the other either in or moving to Oz.
Also, ring LOTS of Migration Agents I would suggest, because the good ones will not take you on unless they believe they can genuinely help . They can soon eliminate thoughts of visas that you would not be eligible for, so as to nrrown things down tho the ones you might get in on.
You sound quite young. Am I right? If so, what is your skill ?
With a little more info from you I'm sure PiO can help you to get started.
Best wishes, hunny
Gill

Hiya nancy and welcome to poms in oz,,we used an agent as like you we didnt know where to start ,we used Visa Bureau and they were very good,Go Matilda is another company that lots of guys seem to use.The DIMIA website gives all the infomation but at the time of applying i found it baffling!!!if you can get your head around it all and feel competant enough ,many folks do it themselves and save a few quid,it really does boil down to personal prefernce,,good luck with whatever you decide,,

There is an EXPO show in London on the 3rd November. We are going to this to gather information on emmigrating to OZ and hopefully finding a sponsorship. We have our fingers crossed that my OH comes back with a Sponsorship as this is the only route available to get us across to OZ.
Hi - you can get lots of general advise from EXPO places, but I suggest a relocation agent. Try to get someone who has done it before, i.e another pom as they have in my oppinion a better insight to how you may feel. Also make sure you have everything sorted before you come here - without residency you have to have visa's. The one you need for work is hard and lengthy to get as you need to fins a sponsor who is willing to commit for 1-4 years, pay medical bills and return flights in case it all goes belly up. I suggest you come first see if you like it and then start the immigration application. A work permit can take up to 4 months to get, even with a sponsor so unless you have the funds to just stay here without pay i would not come without it being granted. Also you are not entiteled to any benefits, childcare etc until you have residency. You can enter on a holiday visa, but just remember it only lasts 3 months and unless you have something sorted you have to go back. I can tell you know it takes longer than that to get a sponsor, work permit etc, so really not a good option.
Don't want to be too negative, but best to know all you can before you embank on a long trip and expense only to have to come back. Best advise is to get a relocation agent who will bea ble to tell you all you need to know, what medicals, policechecks, references etc you need. Its a long and expensive process but worth it in the end. Just get it all sorted first.
Hope it helps a bit.
