We are heading to Manly also, we spent 6 month's there 2003/2004 and love it,
As for pubs my favourite is the Steyne it is at the end of the main corso directly oppisite the beach, it is a huge building which has many different bars in it, something for everyone, my favourite was the roof top bar, an ice cold beer or glass of wine watching the sun set on Manly beach has to be one of my favourite memories.

As for yoga/pilates there are loads in Manly my wife tried a few, there are a couple of places above the shops in the main Corso, the same with surf classes there is a main one half way up the beach was always busy.
Apart from Manly there are also the northern beaches from it "curl curl" and"Dee why" which are also nice places to live with good restaurants and bars, they are a bit quieter than manly and cheaper too.
