Hi all..
My husband are coming to Melbourne next month on 2nd November for 3 weeks to decide if it really is for us. We are staying near Richmond and plan on seeing recruitment agents, real estate and checking out areas..
We are wanting to look at the Mornington area (inc mount eliza, mount martha etc), Geelong, point cook and open to suggestions. Very interested in finding out about taxes, schools, health care and just everything really. Have done lot's of reseach and some has sunk in but so much to look at..

Would be great to meet with anyone who is around and would love to hear of your journey to Oz..

If you have any advice for us then we would appreciate that also.. Sorry if I have waffled to much he he!

hi ya im Tracey,

We are hoping to go to melbourne asa we can just started process, husbands a electrician so going through skilled application.

We havnt been oz before and where thinking of going to check it out, but after pricing it all up hubby, i, and three kids it was coming out at small no large forturn,

so we decided to just go for the move and safe our money for when we get there,

We are looking at Mount Martha, Mornington, Mount Eliza and so on, so please let me know what you think of it once yourve been, its so exciting can i get in your suitcase, i wouldnt need to stay with you ill be happy sleeping on the beach.

Hi Tracey..

With the amount I pack you would be one very squished lady!.. I know it is very very expensive but my lovely father in-law paid for our flights which was a total bonus..
Will certainly let you know what we think of it and cannot wait.. Roll on 2 weeks friday!!

We are in Mornington its a great place to be!! There are quite a few of us on the peninsula and its great!! The beaches are lovely, lots of open space, good schools....the list goes on.
Havent been to Geelong so cant comment but in my opinion the Mornington Peninsula is the place to be!!

Hi ya,

Been over in Melbourne for 5 weeks now, I currently live in Bayside (Hampton, Brighton). It's a great place to live as it's only 20 mins on the train to the CBD (where I work). The only problem it's that it's expensive (average price of a house is $900,000), but if you move further down the coast it get cheaper.

I have been to Geelong and Point Cook, both are nice but don't have the transport links in the city, it's also dryer out that side and the wind is heavier (so the locals tell me). Williamstown is nice on the otherside of the bay.....
