WelcomeIf you are new to Poms In Oz and migrating to Australia or currently living in Australia feel free to say hi to all the other either in or moving to Oz.
Hi All We are not doing much better either although we are considering dangling a carrot!
Briefly, we had buyers, no chain and were due to complete end Sept (house had been on market since May and they came along in Aug), they pulled out - couldn't get mortgage so back on the market we go!!!!
We now have (fingers crossed) a new offer which is acceptable BUT they want to sell first - they had a house each, one is sold/completed but said they wanted/needed to sell the other one but almost a month on they dont have a buyer yet.
We NEED to move in Jan (as our kids start uni/college) and cant afford to rent it out as we need to equity. Estate agent indicated that if 'push came to shove' they could finance the move without selling/completing, now we are thinking of offering £5k off the agreed price if they would be prepared to do that and complete by end of Nov. Our way of thinking is - they get the house without worrying about someone beating them to it (fat chance to be truthful given how quiet its gone), we get the house sold and probably save a couple of thousand in assorted mortgage payments, rent for kids in Oz if they have to go on ahead of us (they are old enough btw!) etc.
If I haven't sent you all to sleep now, what do you all think? Is it a reasonable suggestion?
Hi
We have accepted an offer on our house & we are now starting the conveyancing process. Apparently the market is picking up slowly again so fingers crossed for all ogf you that need a sale. I know how frustrating it is and even though we've had an offer I am still not getting too excited aaand won't be cracking the chmpagne until we've exchanged

Awww Lyn, feel for ya hun The weeks are just rolling past aren't they, and January must be looming ever closer for you.
I have to say this house-selling malarkey is a chuffin nightmare. I daren't get my blood pressure checked, have been on medication before for it, and house house house is all you think about really.
We are still no further on. Accepted an offer 4 weeks ago, but our buyers need to sell and don't think they've had the interest expected either.
We are like you Lyn, but with a little more time, in that Stu has got to start his course next July.Sounds loads of time. Well, we'll see.
Worst case scenario? He will have to go without me whilst I stay behind to sell.
Pass the Valium.

Hi Neil
Nightmare is what it sounds like for you! Hope you get buyers soon. This house selling takes over your life and Rachel, save some of the valium for me please! Good luck to everyone else too.

Good luck to you Paulhug with your viewing on Sunday and to all the rest of you who are tearing their hair out!
Thanks Rachel, we seem to crashing headlong into January and are having to work out alternative plans as kids courses start as early as Jan 7th! and even if things got underway proper now, it is unlikely to be all completed by that time, specially if there is a chain involved! I really hope your buyers come up trumps soon for you cos I know you got things underway before us - fingers and toesess crossed x
We put the proposition bout the £5k reduction for quick sale/completion to our agent but she had had another chat with our potential buyer in the meantime and it turns out they are relucant now to finance ours without a buyer for theirs although they do have a second viewing in a couple of days so we will try to remain hopeful!
YES - house re-sold and contracts exchanged today!
This was far more stressful than waiting for the visa. Lots of luck being sent to all who are still in the process.

Ours has been on the market 8 weeks and no viewings. Dropped the price by 7 grand last week......still nothing.....aaaagggggh
I feel so powerless, nothing in the area is moving and there are 4 houses on our road for sale, it feels like a conspiracy!
However....we are still in the backlog of meds at LCU so shouldn't be panicking just yet....but I am!
