Smile newbie saying hello and a couple of questions

hello to everyone on pio.I have been reading this site since january when we decided we would like to give australia ago for the same reasons as most of you.anyway oh is a roofer with 20 odd years of experience but no qualifications and the thought of doing the tra was a nightmare but we weren't planning on making the move until jan 09 so were taking our time then pathway d was removed.Anyway it now seems the only option for us is to go down the employer nominated temporay457visa route.Apparently with this visa we wont necessarily be automatically entitled to medicare or free state education for our 2 children shannon is 12 and miles is 9 (older daughter sasha nearly 18 is staying in the uk). Does anyone have any idea of what kind of costs we may be looking at for the kids schooling and also for private healthcare. Also can anyone confirm whether employer nomination form 785 is the correct form for a prospective employer sponsor to nominate an individual with a view to obtaining a 457 visa.Hope this all makes sense and i haven't rambled on too much.looking forward to speaking with you all and good luck to everyone.

margaret 42 ,paul 42 shannon 12 miles 9.

The main thing is to ensure you have a employer sponsor willing to emply you.

Can't help you with any of your questions sorry, it's all changed since we made the big step to uproot and head down-under.

I'm sure someone with more knowledge will be along soon though to enlighten you?

Welcome to PIO.

We were going out on a 457 before and so long as you have some qalifications and at least 3 years experience and a company to sponsor you it will be fine as a 457 sponsor visa you can apply to get PR (permenant Residency) which is what we were going to do and still will if we manage to get another sponsor in the meantime. The company sponsoring you will tell you how long you have to be with them before you apply for that, some are 12 months some are 2 years but your 457 can be upto a maximum of 4 years. I have my NVQ2 in Health & Social Care and 10 years experience so all that had gone for me. It wasnt my application that failed it it was always the company that had the problems but that is not saying your hubby will as i have just had a bad run of them but i am not giving up as had too much of a stressful year to give up and it is a dream we wanted for years. Good Luck and feel free to ask anything
