Theres lots of steam coming out of my ears!!!!

Hi Everyone
Just wanted to share this with you.. We were all very excited yesterday because we had booked on one way flights to OZ:)BUT today, guess what????????????our travel agent had to get in touch with Qantas to advise them that we are migrating to Oz and they said because our travel agents have given us such a good price we cant have the extra baggage allowance which you usually get when your migratingI cant believe it !Qantas had already sent me an e-mail telling me of their seat sale and we'd got a quote for £560.00, when I told our travel agent they said they could match that with a £530.00 ticket, which we agreed on. NOW Qantas are saying that we would have to have the emmigration price of £800.00 each... What a RIP-OFF!!!
Has anyone else had the same problem..Can you offer help or advice?????????/
Really brassed off!!!!!
Sorry for moaning, just needed to tell you!!!!
Tracey

Oh thats really bad!!! I didnt think it mattered if you were emigrating or just going on holiday. Companies really wind me up when they inflate prices because they think they have you over a barrel......like holiday companies doubling prices in school holidays!!! Grrrr

They are just taking you for a ride and expecting you to pay more because you dont have a choice.

But you do......cancel the tickets and go with someone else. Would you lose money?

If they offered you the deal knowing your circumstances then they have to abide by it dont they?

Jackie

Oh dear, We had a similar thing but we went on holiday to Oz though. We booked our tickets 7 months in advance and had a reasonable price, then we had a phone call saying that the price had gone up!!! But we had paid in full many months ago! They said they didnt realise at the time it was a black out date! Which meant it was Xmas (come ever year at same time!) and also the Ashes Cricket was on. We go in touch with Consumer Rights whom told us this must be wrong, but to cut a long story short they charged us an extra £1200.00!! Because they offered us a full refund there was nothing that we could do about it !! So wrong but this is the way it is. Anyway out of principle we took our money bakc and booked through someone else, we didnt pay more it may have only been about £50.00 less but I was really annoyed at what had happened and how long they had kept our money for.

What a fliipin' rip off!!

What are they expecting you to take in your extra baggage allowance? The kitchen sink? An extra relative, perhaps????

Grr! I feel really fed up for you!! Is there anything in the booking conditions that you can refer to? I would ask them to show you where it says you can only benefit from the cheaper flight if you're not coming back...otherwise why didnt they ask why you hadnt booked return tickets to the UK?

Hope you manage to get it sorted out. Good luck.

Cheap Tickets

Hi
If you do manage to cancel we paid £440 for our flight on Oct 30th with Singapore airlines. They also give 40kg of baggage each.

Hi Tracey

If ANY airline did this to me, I would be straight onto the Customer Services Manager both in London and in the airline's home country, explaining just how fast and how widely Bad News about sharp practices by airlines travels on the Internet and inviting them to re-consider their stance. I'd just run a war of attrition with them until I got my own way, bluntly.

I hope you manage to get it sorted.

Cheers

Gill
