Learning Disability Nursing - Adelaide

Hi, I'm a Registered Learning Disability Nurse who's seriously looking at emigrating to Adelaide. I'm on the Skilled Migrants list, however a lady I contacted at the ANC informed me that such nurses were eradicated in the 1980's!!! How comes I'm still on the list then??? Can anyone help or offer any advice on this fab website which I only got told about yesterday! Are there any RNLD's in Oz who can let me know what they're doing and if there are plenty of jobs etc and I'd be soooo grateful. Going to Emigration Exhibition Oct to find out more cos the process looks far too scary and stressful for me to battle on my own. I know thousands of you have done it but is it seriously worth it ? I'm scared.

Thanks for reply. It's so daunting but exciting isn't it? I'll try and get as much info from the exhibition as poss! By the way I'm a bit thick but what does TRA stand for? I know its assessment of some kind but I keep seeing it!

Sorry, don't know much about LD nurses I'm afraid, I'm a Children's nurse hoping to get to Brisbane/Gold Coast on a 175 skilled Independant visa. (Just about ready to send off my skills assessment, just waiting for my work to get a move on with my professional reference & Statement of Employment!) I'm sure someone on here will be able to help you though. Might be worth talking to an agent for advice? Alot of them will give you a free inital consultation. Have a search on the forums here for recommended agents!

Hi, thanks for your reply and hope your stuff's going smoothly! Are you doing your visa's etc through an agent or braving it alone? I've been looking at all the different categories and I really don't know where to start. Hoping to gain more insight from exhibition. Would love to be out there within next 18 months or so as my eldest is nearly 9 so personally don't want to uproot him when he's much older or at secondary school. I've been emailed some Disability websites and know there's vacancies out there but wondered if there were any RNLD's out in Adelaide, so once positive we're going I'll research them.
