Hi all. My name is sarah, I'm married with 3 children aged 11, 6 & 3 .We are just starting to look at the possibility of moving to OZ. Not sure where to start but my husband has asked me to find out about schools & jobs, this seems a little premature since we don't know where we want go . I think possibily Brisbane does anyone have any advice on what to do first ??????????????

Welcome to PIO
The first thing that we done was to contact an agent. We went through Access Migration who were fantastic. They will let you know if your job is on the wanted list and give you any advise from there.
We are in Melbourne and have been for just over 3 months. We have 3 boys (6, 3 and 17 months). The schools around Mount Martha are great and we put or eldest in school a week after being here and he loves it. Our 3 year old is at kinder and also likes it. There are many to choose from.
What we done was look up schools on google while we were still in the UK so as we got an idea.

After that you need to find out if you can get enough points to qualify and if your hubbies job is on the wanted list.
If you decide to research all this yourself it could get confusing with all the changes and everything.
Most agents offer a free over the phone consultation they will let you know if you qualify and if you do what visa to apply for. Once you have established that you can either do a DIY application or sign with an agent, we did the latter.
I found when we started I was drowning in info and needed to have the exact facts instead of guessing that we qualified remember initial consulation is free from most agents and I like freebies.
Brisbane by the way is a great city and just an hour either side there are some great beaches.
Hi Sarah, welcome to PIO, we decided to go it alone without an agent so as to save some dosh.
Once we found my husbands trade on the demand list we visited an expo in London and made the decision to go for it.
We applied for his TRA cert which wasn't too bad and so far the application process hasn't been too daunting, however we're not there yet. But if we do get there i'll have the satisfaction of completing by ourselves as well as saving ££'s.
we're heading to Melbourne after changing our minds several times. We have no family or existing friend over there so we're not tied to that area, it really depends if OH receives any job offers.

Thank you for making me feel welcome . I've been on to an agency and told no go , I've also been told my job is one of the hardest to qualify for with my qualifications I need a managerial qualification since I'm a childminder but I am also a qualified nursery nurse.
Not sure where to go from here but am not willing to give up that easily.

I am waiting on a reply from an agent ,I have decided to go with a local one so that we can speak face to face which gives my husband piece of mind.I have decided if I have to go to college and study a for a new career then I will ,hopefully I won't have to go that far.Cheers keep you all up to date with what is going on.
