WelcomeIf you are new to Poms In Oz and migrating to Australia or currently living in Australia feel free to say hi to all the other either in or moving to Oz.
We were extremely lucky to have been transferred over here last year via work and have fallen in love with this great country....but in the whirl of getting work, home and visitors organised we are now feeling a little "homesick" for friends, family and a social life!! Can anyone suggest any social meets or are in the same situation?
We are based in Lindfield, NSW (20 mins north of Sydney) - just the two of us.....
Pete (46 going on 26) and Michelle (38 going on 58).

We wish we had discovered this site before moving over - there is so much good advice and info on here.....we have had an "interesting time" learning things the hard way - even putting out the bins (which colour bin on which week??? - we waited for our neighbours to put theirs out first for the first few months only to learn that they wait for their neighbours....one gets it wrong and we all do!!!).
This was a big leap into the unknown a year ago - offered a great job at v. short notice on the other side of the world - a real "what if..." situation and it has been like starting primary school again - only this time with fuller brains and slower learning capacity!! Just miss the people we left back in UK.....however, we have also discovered MSN and have recently sent friends/family audio webcams for birthday presents this year (the webcam company will love us!!). So - our goal over the next few months (aside from leading the bin day - with the right bins) is to start getting out of our hermit shells and meeting/speaking to people as this feels like the only incomplete part since we moved - we know that it will take a while to build friendships that took us almost a lifetime to forge in UK - I guess that this is all part of our big adventure!
No doubt will "virtually meet" again in other threads - this is very addictive....I need to find out more about pension transfers......
All the best
Pete (v. young at heart) and Michelle (old woman early)
