Have chance to work in Sydney for six months, have job already, but my husband cant have a career break like me and I will have to either go on my own or just not go.
What a decision, sway from wanting to go to been frightened to go because I know I'll miss him loads. Any advice.

Is his job something that he could fall back into upio n your return? It would seem such a shame to have to pass up this fab chance and once there.... you may never want to come back!!!

6 months is a long time, but it is 'do-able'. The armed forces do it all the time, i did twice in my marriage. Can hubby take a 4 week holiday in the middle of the 6 months to break up the time apart? or maybe come out for the last 6 months to shorten it?
Its a hard deciscion to have to make, you know you'll miss him, that goes without saying. What you need to figure out, Is it worth it??

We're off to Melbourne on a permanent visa hopefully before christmas.

Live in Maltby, have no intension of emigrating at present but a few girls at work are working in Sydney and just thought what a great opportunity to try a different country and still come back home to my job.Lots of excuses not to go but always the same feeling of wanting to go and try it and always regretting it if i did'nt go comes back and this keeps me thinking forward. Interesting to read this site and already getting tips ie what airline to use. I know I'll have to have medicals is there any where local eg Sheffield and approx how much do you know?
