no city and guilds

It's a bit of a blow this is. I got my city and guilds in 1989, but as we all know most people don't get the chance to go to college let alone get an apprenticeship. what's one of them these days. You can't get an apprenticeship anywhere, no one wants to take you on and give you one because it is too expensive, I have had my business 18 years and all of my lads have had on the job training, none have gone to college as I couldn't afford to send them. They have had one to one training all the time and have learnt five times quicker.you can not even get on site these days because of all the jam rolls (polls) cheep labour so if you have not got the right paper work you will just have to sweat it out and of course get hit in the pocket good luck everyone tony jo emma and amy p.s still not sold the bbbbbbbbbbbbbhouse yet

well sick too

I too got city and guilds in 80's, but my certificate got lost.
After 6 months of battling with city and guilds, loads of phone calls
they took the 34.00 and then i heard nothing, they couldn't be bothered to send a letter to say that they couldn't find a copy of it.
Eventually had to get a statutory declaration off a solicitor.

And now i havent a clue whats going on about tra, even though i applied under pathway A or B will they put me under pathway D
as i only have a statutory declaration. I just feel well sick at the momentHave a feeling tra will be returned now!! took ages to do as well, its been a u turn that came right out of the blue

Talked to agent today - we are rapidly running out of time as OH is 40 in Oct. Think the next way forward is to apply for a visa to work in a nominated state ( you know what I mean - can't think wot its called) or take the english test - supposed to be really hard.

If this was April - I'd be expecting a big shout of APRIL FOOL! Gutting after all the hard work we and everyone else out there has put in.

Best wishes and fingers crossed for a happy outcome for all.

This time next year Rodney.....................

Isn't bricklaying a 60 point occuaption in that case do your points not add up to enough, I would have thought you should still be okay at the age of 40 + shouldn't you.

My hubbies occupation is a 60 pointer and he was 40 nearly 41 when application went in no extra points from Aus training or $100.000 investment just bog standard total, so should you still not qualify for 136 modl visa, or is it 175 now, have things changed so much I am not in touch with the new points system.

I used to complain about my OH hanging onto all his paperwork, apprentice papers every single scrap of work related stuff, certificates, even train tickets from world cups around the world but seeing what you lot are going through with the new TRA I am so reliefed he did.

I wish all of you struggling with this new development with the TRA all the best of luck hopefully something will come along that will allow you to be asseessed, I just hope its soon.

Kaye x

Will contact VB again.

But quoting from their email:

"If we don't manage to lodge Bill's application before he turns 40 there are two options:

1. ILETS
2. State sponsorship"

So just going on what they've told us. Think I'm gonna have to look into this further.

ilets test will get you more points doing an english test !
as standard uk passport is classed as 15 points and doing ielts can get you up to 25 points. After 40 you lose 5 points on age hence why you would need to do the ielts english test!
