Hello all, I have been looking at forum and have a thousand questions to ask about taking the plunge and moving to Aus. First worry havent told family yet, and our children who are 13 and 10 have mixed feelings about moving. want to make sure before starting the pocess. We have done the lon line assessment and have enough points to start process

Hello, im sure your kids will love it. We have mixed feelings too. Some days i feel like forgeting the whole thing. But we allways go back to it. My kids are 7,4, and 3 so dont really understand.
Good luck jane
I think lots of people choose not to tell family and friends until they are sure, us included! Also there are lots of threads on here about kids not being too keen, might be worth looking at some to see how others dealt with it, might give you some reassurance.
Hi Lewis family, and to PIO, we have only just told our kids, wanted to pass the TRA's first, they seem ok with it at the moment, but it's a long wait yet.
Good luck..........

Hi Lewis Family, welcome to PIO, I have found this site a lifeline for answering questions to reading how to deal with life questions! We have been thinking about emigrating for a long time and have now just filed our TRA application. The only thing I would say about family etc, is it seems to be the one reason people want to return! I think it is the hardest part of leaving and it is so far away. Depends on what your relationship is with them and how much you will miss them, and whether or not you could visit. Having said that, as a family, you are living your life every day! And sometimes you have to do what is right for your family and if you have kids, their future. We belive we will be giving our kids a better future. Tough decisions and even once you apply there are always mixed feelings along the line.
We haven't told all family yet, and waiting until plans are more concrete.
I am sure everyone would agree it is a rollercoaster, but once you are on it's a great feeling to apply! Good luck with your decisions,
Bernie

Hiya guys welcome to poms in oz,its only normal for the kids to have mixed feelings ,my youngest who is 8 was very unsure of leaving the security of what he knows and all his friends ,but he loves it here and says he wouldnt go back.As for family ,its never going to be easy and someone will always put the downer on things ,but sometimes you have to be selfish and think of you and your family,Good luck with everything,
Cal x
Couldn't agree more than with previous posts. My family weren't entirely happy but in the end they want us to be happy and therefore although it will be sad, if we were to stay we would end up blaming them and have therefore kinda taken a selfish view for ME and MY family now, and i think this will be the best decision.
After all what an ideal place for them to visit on hols.
My girls of 7 are also just a lil bit wary and insecure but we will get through this and all will end happy (She says hopingly).

.............to PIO.
We have found kids are much more resiliant and more adaptable than expected. We have them at both ends of the spectrum............ones 8, the other is 19 and they have both settled and made friends well.
Good luck with it all!!
