Hi Herbies! Just also wanted to say welcome to PIO! Noticed you were from Colchester - we are in Hornchuch which isn't a million miles away! Wanted to let you know that there is a meet up on 9th September at the Halfway House (pub) on the A127. We have been to a few of these meets which we have found a great way to meet people in the same boat! If you look under get togethers you will see the Any meets in essex thread! Everyone takes their kids so its great for them to also have a chat - my 3 girls are 4, 7 and 8. Maybe see you there! natalie x

Hi Herbies welcome to PIO we are just down the road from you in Tiptree and we are also heading for Melbourne hopefully in the not to distant future and like you we have never been to Oz before, so there are many people on here in the same boat. Good luck with your form filling and may be see you at the next meet which The Baggos have told you about.
Yes doing the whole process leaves you with sleepless nights but its worth it in the end!!
We have been here for nearly 12 weeks now and like you came to Melbourne and had no friends or family here. In the time that we have been here we have found everyone to be really friendly and welcoming.
Like us you have children (3 boys aged 6 next month, 3 and 16 months) and the easiest place to make friends is school so you will have no probs.

Hi everyone, i'm new to all this so please forgive me. Am I the only one who's bricking it, we've received the certificate from the TRA and are just filling out our application, fortunately i found this site and have just realised i'll have new forms to complete. What a relief that i hadn't sent them. Oh is a capenter/cabinet maker and i'm a part time accounts/payroll manager and of course mother to 7 year old twin girls. There is so much to think about and do, would love to hear from any one who can sympathise, i really need a boost. What do we do first. We have never been to oz although plan to head for Melbourne, we have no friends nor family over there we feel like we will be jumping in at the deep end. But if we don't go i know we will regret it.
Would also like to say that even tho we had been to Oz 3 times prior to moving here, we had never been to Melbourne.
We had been to Sydney and Adelaide on previous trips (having friends in both) and even tho they are great places we are pleased that we came to Melbourne it really is the place for us.
we have no idea on where to go, obviously a job offer would help and steer us into a direction. Are there any places you'd advise against?
We are in Mornington, we came here after doing much research on internet. As soon as we came here we knew it was right for us....beaches, schools, climate and the jobs on offer. Oh paint sprayer.
Having said that everywhere we have been in Oz has been great. There is no where that we have been that we didnt like. It is great here and I am sure that you will be very happy!!
If our TRA ever gets back they we are hopefully going to the Mornigton Peninsula...again like most of you have 1 friend there already and no family (scary). OH has family in Port Lincoln WA but didn't quite fancy it there...
