Smile New to website. Hi to everyone!

Hi everyone,

I am new to this website and would like to say hi to everyone and look forward to talking to you in the future.

When I seen this website I thought it was great and helps so much if you are starting that leap into a new life.

My dream has been for many years to live in either australia or new zealand. My dream has got stronger since I had my daughter who is now 6 years old. We always talk about it and hope one day to get there.

I am studying physiotherapy at the moment and hope on completion this will be accepted in Australia. I want my daughter to have a better quality of life with more opportunities when she is older. We both love the great outdoors which we cant do too often in Britain.

The only obstacle I will have is my daughters dad if he will consent when the time comes. I just need to convince him when the time comes of what a great life Australia will give her.

I would love to study in Australia but have been told it can prove to be very costly.

The area we want to aim towards is either Brisbane or the Gold Coast. My daughter does and is crazy about gymnastics and cheerleading and know this is done in this area.

Would be great to hear from people who live or are thinking of moving to these areas. Have done my research and it looks fabulous.

At the moment we are saving to hopefully go on holday there, which would be the next best thing to moving.

Look forward to talking to and making lots of new friends.

Hello and welcome! Yes, this is a great site and has proved really useful to me. I'm sure you'll get some really interesting and useful stuff. Everyone is so friendly too! We're hoping to get to Brissie or the Gold Coast too, hopefully by May/June next year. We were there on holiday in March this year and fell in love with the place! We have the same reasons for moving as you, mainly the quality or life for our children. I'm in the process of getting my skills assessment together for sending off. The 1st part of the whole process really.
Well, good luck, and keep in touch!

Hi

Good to speak to someone who's interested in Brisbane and Gold Coast. You will have to keep me updated on your progress. Have you decided on schools for your children? Schools are supposed to be very good.

Wish I could go on holiday now there, just reading and looking at pictures of the place is a dream. My daughter wants the beaches and the animals. Shes obsessed with koalas!! Just to give her the better life she deserves would make me the happiest ever.

Where was the best place you visited whilst on holiday there or where you spoilt for choice?
Was it the holiday that made you decide on Australia to live or have you always wanted to move?

Speak soon
xx

No we haven't decided on schools yet. Have had a look on the net, but still not totally set on which area we want to live in. We spent a week at Surfer's Paradice on the Gold Coast, then spent 10 night's in Bridgman Downs in Brisbane. Surfer's was great, but more for a holiday I think. Really loved Bridgman Downs. The house we stayed in was in a street in a forest area. Absolutely beautiful, and lots of local amenities close by. House prices there are more expensive than other areas, so I don't know if we'd be able to afford there. Depends on what we get for our house here really. I think the ideally We'd like to live near a beach. Really liked Curumbin on the Gold Coast. There's a brilliant wildlife sanctury there. Kids loved it! Also really liked Scarborough/There's so many places to choose from!! Depends on jobs too. We're looking into buying land and building our own.
We used the holiday as a bit of a fact finding trip. We've thought about the move for a couple of years, but only really seriously since the begining of the year, so decided to take the kids over to see if they liked it. They both loved it, but my 10 year old is worried about leaving her friends behind!
Talk soon

Wink

Hi,

I think thats what we will do, have a holiday and really explore and I'm sure we will find our favourites. It would be great if you could find a lovely house near the beach.

I worry for my daughter if she would miss family too much. I am not close to my family and dont have anything really that I'm leaving behind. My daughter though is close to her nan and grandad on her dads side and her cousins. It will be a while before I take the ultimate leap though so will face it nearer the time. I wish is was sooner! but have to qualify as a physio first. Have considered studying in Australia but found it to be more costly than britain.

I'm sure once your children get their they will find new friends combined with everything they can do they will love it. They can also always keep in touch by the internet to their british friends. The greatness of the internet!

Must go now. You take care and keep in touch. This forum is so addictive.

Bye
