Tabbiespice is on a distinguished road
Hello

Hi everyone

I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself as you may well see a bit more of me in the future.
I am a nurse living in Milton Keynes. My partner is in IT and we have 6 children ranging in age from 2 to 13. We hope to move to Perth.

We are hoping to go over on a sponsored temporary 457 visa to Western Australia (Perth area) as I am a nurse and they are in demand.

i am in process right now sorting out registration in the UK and then we shall be starting the process off properly.
We have done so much research that I dont think there is anything we dont know about!!! Tried to think of everything to make sure we are doing the right thing and are prepared.

We have accepted an offer on our house and so are waiting for a completion date on that. Once we know that then we can decide whether we need a short term let in this country..........all depends on how long this whole process takes. We were thinking 3 months start to finish.........I know there is a backlog on visas at the mo.
Partner also has a 3 month notice period so that would suit us.

Anyway this is us and whats going on.......hope to get to know some of you a bit better over the coming weeks.

Take care

Jackie

Hi Jackie and another welcome to PIO ..

We are going to Sydney about this time next year. I think you are being a bit optimistic with the 3 month timeline ..... but some people seem to get through the process a lot quicker than others ... so fingers crossed for you.

My daughter is training to be a nurse so is hoping to follow us out. You are right about them crying out for nurses!

Perth is a great place to settle, you will love it I know I do. Been here 15months now and no regrets. The hospitals are friendly as majority of staff are not from oz and been in the position of uprooting and moving to new job so you will be made to feel very welcome. Good Luck and enjoy Perth

Thanks everyone.

"OUR OLDEST DOESN'T REALLY WANT TO GO"
Tracy our oldest isnt too keen on the idea either. He is very close to my mother and doesnt want to leave her. Also he says he hates the accent and doesnt want to move schools. Hmmm pretty long commute if he wants to stay at his school :)

"I think you are being a bit optimistic with the 3 month timeline"
Curlysoo Well I dont know at all about this. I hear so many conflicting reports. The visa office say that 50% of 457's are granted in 4 weeks and 75% within 6 weeks and so we added on the time to get applications, interviews, medicals etc etc on and came up with 3 months. Hey if it doesnt work then we are prepared for that. If it takes longer than so be it. I know that other types visas do take a lot longer than 3 months and I know there is a backlog at the Australian end at the moment as well at the nurse registration agency. I dont have to have skills assessments done or anything like that and I know they can cause delays.
What visa are you applying for?

Thanks again everyone

Jackie
