New to all this!!!!

We've finally taken that step and are now well underway with application being received last week. Reading conflicting info on how long this all could take but hoping to have visa finalised early next year (fingers crossed). If all goes well we will be making the move to the Brisbane area in Aug 08. Our son will be 15 when we finally make the move and having a little bit of trouble at the moment convincing him that the move will benefit all of us - he's obviously concerned leaving his friends behind. Has anyone else been there and done this will a similar age child. Could you let us know both the positives and negatives so we are more in the picture of what to expect.

We have 17 year old who we are still convincing that the move is the best for us. The only trouble is he now has girlfriend. We nearly at the end of our wait. We are just waitnig to here about our visa.

Welcome to the site, its really helpful for all those questions you're bound to have. In terms of time scales, we sent our application off end of March, and are expecting a decision within the next few weeks, having had our meds and police checks requested. If we get it soon, then it will have been approx 6 months. Our agent said this was how long it would take. Problem is there always seem to be backlogs in various depts, and I think it can also depend on which visa you are applying for, we are on a 136 pr.

Hi and Welcome, it took us about 7 months from start to finish so I would say that you're plan of August 08 will be fine.
