Is there work for general builders in Queensland

Hi we are hoping to move to Cleveland near Brisbane in May 2007. My husband is a Bricklayer by trade but owns a general building company here at present. We have been told that there is a skills shortage in Queensland hence this is the state we have choosen however form looking as different sites it appears that the all refer to the individual skills and not to multiple skills. My husband generally builds single and double storey extensions here and undertakes most of the work himself with the exception of electircs and plumbing, are there opportunities to undertake work of this type over there. Also can anyone tell me what they think of Cleveland? Are there better area's to settle in for Poms in Queensland. We have 2 kids one 6 and the other is 1. Looking forward to making lots of new friends:)

Hiya welcome to poms ,builders are definately in demand around here,there are different regulations to building in Oz and although im no expert it will depend on what trades he can proove as to what he can build.Have you tried contacting some of the big house builders to get an idea whats required? Dixon homes are advertising lots lately for all different trades,builder,plumber,electrician etc,good luck in your quest Queensland/Gold coast is a good choice for work and family,,

Hi , I'm a bricklayer in QLD ,and you will need to get a builders licence first to carry on as you are doing at the moment . You can't just start putting up extension.
