Spouse Visa: Offshore Temporary and Permanent (Subclasses 309 and 100)

You can apply in advance of being married as long as you will be married before the visa is granted (and if you have 4 kids you don't even have to get married - you could go de facto quite easily with that amount of evidence of long term committment! lol)

However, don't know timescales and think they're pretty fast so you may want to wait till the day after the wedding!! Specially as, same as the 136 you have to enter before either meds or police checks expire. If you apply in Sept and want to be there March reckon that's plenty of time for a spouse's.

Good luck!!

Hi Peppa,
If you start getting all your paperwork together, stat decs and statements done now, get your police check and meds booked, then apply you shouldn't have long to wait at all. One of the girls on here had her defacto visa approved in 8 days! My partner had his approved in 6 weeks, but 40 days of that time was waiting for a new police check to come back. Minus that time it would have been about 8 days as well!

The booklet on the Department of Immigration and Citizenship website on partner migration has a checklist of all the documents you need to provide and as long as you get everything together you should have no problem at all.

Good luck!

Eva

Hi Peppa,
My spouse visa came in just under 6 weeks. I sent my police check with the application, that took about 4 weeks to come. I got permanent residency straight off as we had been together (not married) more than 5 years and have 2 kids.
Proof of relationship consisted of one piece of evidence for each of us from each year we had been together, showing that we had been living at the same address, bills, bank statements etc.
You need to submit your children's ozzy citizenship documents too.
It was all very easy.
Good luck
Alyson x (out of here in 9 weeks !)
