Hi Peppa,
No, as they are only 3 and 1 they wouldn't need to have one anyway. But they don't have to. Does that make sense ?? The medical is a load of old b***ocks anyway, don't stress about it, and you can refuse the breast exam, it doesn't matter. Its just very, very expensive, about £70 for the X ray then another £200-300 for the 10 min medical and I had to have an extra blood test because I'm in hospital laboratory work, which was another £25. It sucks.
Very grumpy today, fed up with the whole thing and the stress involved and wish I could go and live on a desert island on my own !!!!!
I guess this is normal.
Enjoying the chat though! Feel free to ask if you have any more questions.
A x

Well Peppa, as it happens I can tell you all about this,
The boob check is performed "if clinically necessary" the Australian government do not give any indication to the Drs performing the meds as to what this clinical necessity might be. It is entirely at their discretion. The Dr I saw said he does them if the customer is over 30. In my book, the only clinical necessity would be a family history of breast cancer but no questions of this nature are asked, which is rather stupid. The Dr then told me that the medical exists purely to put off time wasters from aplying and is not designed to pick up serious diseases (other than of course TB which the Aussies are paranoid about).
Personally I think he just wanted to cop a feel.
So anyway, he said I didn't have to have one if I was unhappy about it .
I was just having another balshy, grumpy day and felt like causing trouble.
I relayed this tale to a Dr. friend of mine who told me always to remember that Drs are men first and Drs second. (lady drs excluded obviously)
Makes you wonder dunnit

Hi Peppa.

Our application took 8 days. No kidding. And that was because everything was together. Literally, I applied for the medical. Got that done and filled out everything else, the statotory declarations, the endless evidence they require and sent the whole thing as this mammoth package. Its exhausting but when I got that phone call, I was over the moon. The lady at the embassy said that our application was so strong and so together that there was no reason to delay.
There is no reason for you to be waiting if you are organised.
Good luck!

You need to have a minimum of 2 stat decs from Australian Citizens or residents. I put in 4. We also put in everything we had that had both our names on it- invitations, travel, bills etc. We'd only been together 13 months though so we had to make sure we had enough proof!

Hello again,
We had 3 stat decs, all ours were Australians, i don't know what you are supposed to do if you don't know any. One was my husband's father, one his cousin, and one a friend. They downloaded a form from the net and filled it in and sent it to us.

Other supporting evidence... one piece of evidence from each person for every year we had been together showing that we had lived at the same address, bank statements, utility bills etc. This is what they asked us to send as we didn't send any with the initial aplication. They were not interested in photos, invitations etc.

Packers have just been and all our worldly possessions have gone.
Guess it's realy happening then!
